The Weekend started early

My ex-husband took the kids this afternoon. Their schools were closed and I worked from home. Except that I didn't get much work done because I had both kids home with me.

It snowed the biggest snowstorm that Dallas has ever seen. Or, ok, I think the news said it was the largest amount of snow we've received in 35 years or something?! So, instead of working, the girls and I did this:

And there was so much snow:

That we kept playing until we came up with this:

Then, because we're really silly around here, we decided to give the snow girl boobies:

And Rose added what was supposed to be pony tails but instead looked like horns:

So, in effect, I guess we created a horny, Mardi Gras snow girl with boobs.

Wow. I am corrupting my children.

We had a blast though. I wouldn't trade a day like this for anything.

I'm without kids or my man this weekend. Yes, even on Valentine's Day. I did purchase some king crab legs (my favorite - and such a rare treat!) to have for dinner. I figured I'd build a fire, enjoy my dinner in front of a chick flick on my couch, have some wine, a nice dessert, a hot bath and then boom chicka bow-wow... I'd get it on with my chillaxed self.

Heh.

That's not too different from any other weekend.

Are any of you making this weekend different than usual? Plans? Favorite dinner? Chocolate?

Mmmmm.... chocolate.....

  1. You got snow in DALLAS? Oh my goodness. OK, I'm from the East Coast, and I'm parochial, but I had no idea that it ever had snowed in Dallas. ;-) I knew I'd learn something by reading your blog, T.

This weather is seriously strange. Global weirding.

Your weekend sounds wonderful, by the way. Enjoy!

  4. I'll be spending Valentine's Day with my two favourite girls, just hanging out and having fun, a regular weekend together. And I'll be grateful for every single moment that I spend with them. :-)

  5. The kids and I are working on our To Do Lists. We are trying out a new coffee shop, going to a used book store, going Goodwill hunting, getting lost in IKEA, and shopping at Trader Joe's. (I have to try the chocolate croissants.)

I'm so excited. We're even going to take photos to record the Year of the List for posterity. All the makings of a great weekend.

PS. Loved the pictures. You say corrupting, I say bonding. These are the things they will remember.

  6. We were threatened with snow earlier this week but it seems to have receded (boringly).

If you can't corrupt your children, who can you corrupt> :)

  7. I love the snow-whatever she is!!

Would you believe we live in New England yet my kids have never made a proper snowman?

A weekend with no partner and no kids? Don't let my wife know, she'd be insanely jealous!! Have fun!

  12. Did you somehow think your kids were going to get off scott-free? It is scary how they reflect our best and, uh, worst attributes!

Not a big V-Day fan — I'm too afraid I'll croak before the actual day and no one I love will know I love them so I say it every day. It's obsessive, but as far as obsessions go ...

Enjoy yours — love your "happy ending" ;-)

  13. Yep, it'll be just me and LO Sat-Tues. My big kids will be w/their father.

Danielle and I are taking the kiddos to a museum and then to a single mom & kids V-Day potluck on Sun but other than that I am going to be doing pretty much the same as you! ;)

  14. Love the snow pics! How fun. I wish we had snow here. (I know all the east coasters are reading this comment, saying "come take ours!")

I forgot you live in Dallas. I think of you as a New Orleans gal now. All those half-naked body painted women on your blog made an impression!

Have a great V-day. It's all in the heart and mind.

  16. My mom is suppose to be coming up to hang out with the boys while Hubs and I go out to dinner. I am praying that the snow doesn't keep them away or us in the house since Hubs has to work on Sunday. :(

    Enjoy your dinner. *hugs*

  19. There are some days work just has to take a back seat and your snow day sounded like one of those days. You told your girls so much by playing in the snow with them.

    Enjoy your Valentine's Day!
